Magick Carpet in Concert

Magick Carpet create an intricate weave of sound that defies definition; neither classical Indian nor Jazz; Fusion nor World Music but an original and exciting sound; full of exotic rythmn; haunting melodies and simply excellent music. 

Five of west Wales top musicians form Magick Carpet. Peter Stacey (saxophone & flute); Paul Uden (guitar); Kelly Smith (tabla & pakhawaj); Rajesh David (harmonium & vocals) and Smudger Smith (tamboura). Peter is working with India's leading sitarist; Nishat Khan; on a concerto to be performed by the Philharmonia Orchestra in South Bank in July 2009. Paul has played with Kiki Dee and Herbie Flowers; and has developed a unique style. Kelly has studied classical Indian percussion with renowned masters Samir Chattergee in New York; & Sanju Sahai in London and has developed an individually clear and dynamic style. Rajesh moved to Wales from Mumbai in 2001 and is trained in classical Indian music. Smudger has also studied Indian folk music and has played tamboura for over 20 years. Together these five guys create the most magical music that will make you fly!
