The Hay festival fringe is reborn in The Company of Fools
Every so often: sometimes out of nowhere and for reasons better known to Butterflies, a collective and co-operative music movement is born and grows in a certain City or area: Naples, Detroit, Liverpool, Canterbury, Seattle, Laurel Canyon.. when one thinks about it, the list becomes endless and joins up many dots that contain the DNA of musical expression.
The series of focused but informal concerts by just such a collective known as ‘Company of fools’ is exactly this; it is happening in Hay on Wye circa 2013.
Often there is a frustration or an inventive necessity behind such embryonic movements of mutual support and belief. This is exactly the case here. An entire week of top quality acoustic music born out of a small but beautiful Tuesday open mic evening at the Globe in Hay has been scooped up by Adam Fuest, (a record producer and Singer/songwriter in his own right) and presented as a Hay fringe event May 24th – 27th & May 31st & June 1st at Hay Parish Hall, Lion Street, Hay on Wye.
Each evening concert features four different artists from 7pm until 11pm. Those included are the Alt Acoustic duo BABAJACK, the flamboyant and highly individual Cellist SONIA HAMMOND, the huge vocal sound of recording artists WEATHRILL & LAMB, an exceptional chamber recital from PEREGRINE STRING QUARTET, Lorca’s poetry set to music by KEITH JAMES, mysterious and haunting songs by ADAM FUEST plus many more..
