This will be a showcase for a range of projects and examples of ‘green living', with an emphasis on maximising local resources and services and providing practical ideas to take away.
Visitors can enjoy stalls, bird box & mosaic making, eco-footprinting calculators, pony rides and wild woodland activities for children, storytelling, craft and sustainable living demonstrations, bike and tool repair, talks, information and refreshments. In addition, waymarked trails will be open for short and long walks through woodland and meadow taking in recently developed green features. A small fee will be charged for entry and donations requested for some activities.
Tamara Morris, ‘Natural Links' Project Officer says "The Green Fair aims to give people ideas, skills and confidence to go away and make a difference in their own community or home. If you would like to calculate your eco-footprint please bring electricity/fuel bills and your mileage from your MOT certificate. If you have a tool that needs sharpening, then local craftsman Peter Drake will be on hand to show you how to do it (no carpenter's saws please). You can also bring along your bicycle as Cilcennin based Cyclemart are generously providing ‘tweaks & adjustments' to give you the confidence to be able to do it yourself at home. Cyclemart will also be demonstrating electric bikes. The Green Fair is an event for all the family and all interests. We very much hope that you will come along and be part of it".
The GREEN FAIR is an opportunity for everyone to see all the improvements which have been made over the past three years by local community groups, which have come to Denmark Farm to learn environmentally friendly skills and crafts. The Green Fair marks the Grand Finale of the Shared Earth Trust's Natural Links Programme, supported by the Big Lottery Fund.
