The Rural Craft and Skills Weekend is being held in Penpont, Brecon on 17th - 19th September 2010.

Have you ever wanted to try something new, or rather something old? The Big Skill, a rural craft and skills weekend, will be taking place on 17th – 19th September; ticket holders are given the chance to try a wide range of rural skills including everything from shire horses to stained glass. This new festival is being held in the picturesque setting of Penpont in the heart of the Brecon Beacons.
The main aims of the festival are to attract visitors to the Brecon Beacons and surrounding areas, raise awareness of rural crafts and to sustain the festival and make it into one of the most popular in Wales as well as creating and sustaining employment opportunities for those on placements with the company.
The Big Skill is already boasting a few famous faces, Kirsty Williams AM is hosting the official opening by laying the foundation stone for the dry stone walling on Friday at 4pm. BioBands is the new and exciting competition where the participants will fashion a band from old bits and pieces and then perform to a crowd as well as Roger Williams. A grand total of £100 is up for grabs, for anyone who enters. There will be a music workshop held from 11am onwards for a creative brainwave and the opportunity to make and perfect your instruments. The stalls and workshops on offer fall under the categories of Woodland Crafts, Food, Animals, Water Crafts, Crafts, Recycling, Land Skills, Music and Comedy.
